FORKHORN I

Tuition: $300 | Ages: 11-15

Details: These are day camps only (no overnight stays). Instruction start at 9 a.m. and end 4 p.m. daily. During the classes, parents/guardians are invited to enjoy the Long Lake campus by using the canoes, going for a hike, or enjoying the grounds. LIMITED TO 25 STUDENTS PER CAMP.

 

ABOUT THE CLASS:

Students earn their MN DNR Firearms Safety Certificate by learning to become an ethical, and responsible hunter, participating in hands-on field training, and demonstrating their knowledge on the shooting range. ​

 

This class includes:

  • Firearms Safety Certification Education

  • Beginning Rifle, Archery & Shotgun

  • Wildlife Management

  • Whitetail Deer Ecology

  • Outdoor Survival Skills

  • Map & Compass Orienteering

  • Deer Hunting Techniques

  • Safe Shooting Scenarios

FORKHORN II

Ages: 12-16

ABOUT THE CLASS:

Forkhorn II Camp is an advanced Forkhorn Camp for youth who are graduates of Forkhorn I or who have completed their Firearms Safety Training. This camp includes Bow Hunting Certification.

fORKHORN III

JULY 12-15, 2021

This class has been cancelled due to low registration numbers.

ABOUT THE CLASS:

Forkhorn III is designed for youth who already have their Firearms Safety Certificate and hunting experience. This camp is designed for those seeking to expand their knowledge of big and small game hunting tips and techniques, as well as hunter ethics. Forkhorn Camps are sponsored by the Minnesota Deer Hunters Association. 

 

Topics include:

  • Firearms Safety

  • Advanced Marksmanship & Wing Shooting Training

  • Big & Small Game Biology

  • Hunting Techniques

  • Bow Hunting Tips

  • Tree Stand Safety

  • Hunter Ethics & Responsibilities

  • Optional: Beginning Handgun Shooting & Safety Training, Shotgun
